Fashion gets ultra functional this season with pockets en masse as the utilitarian trend continues in menswear for spring-summer 2019. Who needs a man-bag when pockets go this large? Rest assured those supersized phones have a new home and won’t be falling out of back pockets anytime soon.

Take a leaf out of Ermenegildo Zegna’s book and try a new ‘suit’ look for spring with a pocket front jacket and coordinating trousers that’s anything but formal. Look out for contrasting zips and drawstring features along with 3D pockets as seen at Christopher Raeburn and Louis Vuitton, while the most wearable approach to this practical trend is to go down the military green route inspired by DSquared2.

Style tip: A multi-pocketed field jacket is the easiest way into this trend without feeling like you’re trying to make a sartorial statement.

High Street hit: Massimo Dutti’s marine green jacket is a cotton and linen mix for a slight worn-in look that’s spot on for spring weekends.
