AW18 Trend Spotlight: Keen on Green

If this season’s earthy tones aren’t your bag, freshen up your autumn wardrobe with plenty of lush greens from the richest emerald to moss, mint and darkest forest green. The key is to wear multiple shades in one outfit but fear not, here’s how to style it out without looking like the Jolly Green Giant.

Three ways to wear:

 1. Contrast shades of green in block colour pieces.

Try a vibrant grassy tone against deep forest green and bear in mind the eye will be attracted to the brighter colour so place that piece where you’re happy for attention to be drawn; if you’re conscious of wider hips, wear the bolder tone on top and darker on your bottom half.

2. Use texture to add interest to an all green look.

When combining darker tones of green on green the key is to introduce contrasting textures for a well-styled finish. A fluffy mohair knit looks great against smooth faux leather and suede, faux fur and silks or chiffons turn up the texture to the max.

3. Pick up a print to break up green-on-green looks.

Incorporate the pattern trends of the season and try a pair of green-based checked trousers with a block colour knit and a white shirt, or layer a checked scarf over a coat, both in tones of this must-wear shade. Dark green leopard print takes the animal trend down a subtler route that is ideal for desk to dinner styling. Or why not try a dark green-based floral print blouse or dress paired with brighter accessories.
