As with many trends, the key is to wear the look top to toe and while the high octane sparkle of sequins, metallic leather and lurex in one outfit may work on the runway it doesn’t necessarily work in real life. But this trend can be wearable and taken into daytime dressing with muted metallic pieces – look for lurex knits and gunmetal tones as an alternative to high-shine silver.
The glitter boot is an instant update and is surprisingly easy to wear. Whether long and high-heeled (as seen at Saint Laurent and Oscar de la Renta) or ankle height with a low heel (be inspired by J Crew), it’s a step on from last winter’s gold boot trend and will add a space-age edge to any outfit.
Style Tip: When it’s party o’clock, don’t be afraid to go all out in heavy metal with a metallic dress and heels worn together.
