The stylist training team for the styling courses at NHJ Style Academy have years of experience styling men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes. With a variety of backgrounds including fashion design, retail, fashion journalism, celebrity styling, personal shopping, TV styling and magazine styling they have a wealth of knowledge that you can tap into during the course. During the personal styling courses, as well as the NHJ Style Academy training team, you will meet other NHJ Style Consultancy personal stylists and past students.
Nicky Hambleton-Jones
Celebrity Stylist and Founder
Five years as presenter of 10 Years Younger, the UK's leading makeover show, and the success of her own personal styling business have made Nicky a household name, providing inspiration and motivation for millions of men and women UK-wide. As a top personal stylist and qualified Dietician, Nicky believes that everyone has the potential to look fantastic effortlessly.
In 2001, Nicky established her own style consultancy (NHJ Style Consultancy) which brought the celebrity stylist to the high street, offering a personal styling service which was relatively unique at the time. Following the success of the Style Consultancy and having been bombarded by people constantly asking her how they too can become a personal stylist, Nicky decided to launch the NHJ Style Academy in 2008 - which gives students the opportunity to be trained by the best in the business and become top class personal stylists in their own right.
Viewed as the UK’s leading lifestyle transformation agent, and renowned for her impartial anti-ageing advice, Nicky decided to demystify ageing and give men and women the confidence to life a younger, brighter life. Look & Feel Younger (www.lookandfeelyounger.tv), launched in July 2010.
Nicky is also a popular speaker and is author of the bestselling books - 10 Years Younger, 10 Years Younger Nutrition Bible, Top to Toe and How to Be Gorgeous.
Isobel Kershaw
Personal Stylist and Head of Training
With over 20 years of experience in the fashion world, Isobel Kershaw can certainly be labelled as a Fashion Guru. With a degree in Fashion and textiles, with her final collection sponsored by Jacques Azagury, she has an impressive CV and career path – Design assistant to Spanish designer Alfredo Caral in Madrid; Harrods Executive Trainee Scheme rising to executive management within Harrods; and Head of Buying and Retail for Frank Usher rising to Product Director.
In August 2003 she set up her own business working as a Freelance Stylist before joining NHJ Style Consultancy in 2004. She is now Head of Styling for NHJ Style Consultancy and Head of Training for NHJ Style Academy. Isobel works in all aspects of styling – personal, fashion and celebrity and has built up a large portfolio of clients within NHJ Style.
Her approach to styling is honest and directional so that every client feels rejuvenated and special. Her experience and training enables her to successfully dress both men and women of all ages, shapes and lifestyles, from business executives to full time mums. She has the ability to ensure that every client feels fantastic about his or her new wardrobe and image, which will last forever and her open and enthusiastic manner will make you feel at ease with her directional advice ensuring that the client will find buying clothes a joy rather than a task.
Her approach to teaching is passion to ensure that each student gets the most out of the course and her unique methods ensure that everyone becomes an individual stylist with their own signature. Her support carries on for all students after the course who have found it invaluable to be able to not only ask for advice when they prepare for their first client, but they can ask for extra help in all aspects of the job so that they know they are not on their own when they first start out.
Having mastered all aspects of the Fashion Industry from pattern cutting, design, creating collections, buying, retail management, to shop fit design, epos design, and all aspects of styling, she feels fully qualified to give the best training to her students and they very feel confident with this knowledge.
Kate Battrick
Fashion Stylist and Blogger
Starting her career at top fashion magazine, Elle, as a Fashion Assistant then as a Marketing Manager at telecoms firm Orange, Kate became a freelance Fashion Stylist in 2003. She joined NHJ Style Consultancy as a Personal Stylist in 2006. Kate works exclusively as a Personal Stylist for NHJ Style Consultancy and undertakes additional fashion styling projects with photographers and art directors.
Creative inspiration is Kate's focus for teaching at the NHJ Style Academy from examining the use of colour, referencing art and cinema for creating fabulous outfits and stylish looks.
Her love of fashion led her to recently undertake a Masters degree in Fashion and Film at the London College of Fashion. She gained a Distinction and acclaim for her short film ‘Dress Up’ which accompanied her dissertation on the subject of the red dress in 2009.
Kate is one of the top UK Fashion Bloggers and writes fashion articles for numerous global magazines and publications.
Claire Emerton
Business and Marketing Expert
Claire Emerton is Head of Sales, Marketing and Operations at NHJ Style. She has a BA (Hons) in Business and over 15 years of experience in Marketing and Business Development.
Claire joined NHJ Style Consultancy in February 2006 initially as a part-time Business Manager whilst also continuing her role as European Marketing Manager for a Global Management Consulting firm. After a year of helping Nicky Hambleton-Jones build the business she then joined the company full time as Head of Sales, Marketing and Operations in July 2007 to manage, and help expand, all aspects of the business.
In 2008 she was instrumental in the re-branding of the personal styling business to NHJ Style Consultancy (from Tramp2Vamp), as well as setting up and launching the new NHJ Style Academy business.
She is responsible for marketing and business development including management of the website, online and offline advertising, PR and social media. She heads up the corporate styling side of the business managing NHJ Style Consultancy’s relationships with corporate clients. She also deals with the financial management and accounting for both businesses and is involved in recruitment.
Prior to working at NHJ Style Claire gained her marketing and business development experience across a number of different industries such as travel, IT and professional services. She has worked for a number of large global corporations including American Express, Computacenter and Arthur Andersen.
With her 15 years of marketing experience, and having run the UK’s leading style consultancy since 2006, Claire is certainly qualified to teach the business and marketing section of our personal styling courses. She will talk you through setting up your own personal styling business, show you different marketing and branding strategies and tools to ensure you are successful, and help you to develop your own business plans.
