Styling Course Frequently Asked Questions
If you have further questions about one of our Personal Stylist Courses the following may help. If you would like more information about any aspects of any of our Personal Styling Courses our Styling & Training Director Isobel Kershaw is happy to chat to you over the phone or by email. Simply call 020 3109 0388 to arrange this.
1. Who are your Personal Stylist courses designed for?
Our personal styling courses are for women and men of all ages and backgrounds. The key requirement is a passion for fashion, a natural eye for style and a desire to help people look the best they can. You do not need any prior experience or qualifications in the fashion industry.
On the in-house intensive styling courses you train in a small group of maximum 8-10, which gives you the added advantage of also being able to learn from those around you. Our correspondence home-study course enables you to train from wherever you are, at a time and pace that suits you, but still with a tutor to guide you.
2. Can I set up my own Personal Stylist business immediately after completing the course?
The In-House Flagship Personal Stylist Course and the Personal Stylist Correspondence Course give you all the tools to enable you to do so. The rest is up to you, so having determination and business acumen is useful.
3. What support do you give students who've completed an NHJ Style Academy course?
We offer on-going support to all of the students who complete our personal styling courses. The tutors, who are passionate about their students, are available via email, phone, or a face to face meeting, to help you on your way to your chosen career for as long as you need. We are also a Style Consultancy business and so if any student shows potential to work within our team, we are able to offer them additional work experience, and eventually to work as a personal stylist for NHJ Style Consultancy.
On the In-House Flagship Personal Stylist Course we also offer 2 days work experience - which enables you to see how a top personal stylist works and also allows you to practise your skills with clients to gain confidence.
4. Does your course include colour analysis with scarves and swatches?
We are not image consultants and therefore do not teach colour in that format. Colour is a key part of our curriculum, but taught in the creative and real sense of how colour works on the body and in different fabrics. Our tutors have a background in textile printing and fashion and therefore we offer a very hands on but artistic approach which we feel is more suited to the fashion industry.
5. Are the certificates endorsed by Nicky Hambleton-Jones a recognised qualification?
On completion of each personal styling course you will receive a certificate endorsed by Nicky Hambleton-Jones and our Head of Training, Isobel Kershaw. At present there is no corporate body for the personal styling industry but due to our esteemed profile within the styling industry potential clients will recognise the cache of you having been taught at the Nicky Hambleton-Jones Style Academy. Other styling courses have generally only been self-endorsed and so are not recognised within the fashion industry.
If you have any more questions please email us and we will give you a call to discuss further.
We hope to meet you soon!
